How to Style a Denim Maxi Skirt for the Summer
Denim maxi skirts are great for any season and can be style really well with tights and boots for winter but the style really thrives in spring and summer! It’s a great look to bare some leg and create a sexy look without being too revealing.
Summer allows you to diversify your denim colors with a lighter wash or white denim.
Denim maxi skirts pair really well with a cropped ribbed cotton t-shirt or a more formal button up blouse – the casual denim maxi skirt contrasts really well with a buttoned up top.
Try the denim maxi with a pair of sneakers: these Golden Goose are my favorite sneakers for a casual but upscale look. Or a open toe sandal if going to a beach or outdoor setting.
Do it Yourself: Create a fringe hem yourself on your denim maxi skirt
Sometimes a denim maxi skirt will be a little too formal looking and most of hte styles that are trendy and cuter usually have a raw hem and land just above the ankles.
A denim maxi that goes below the ankles is too long and runs the risk of coming off dowdy and heavy.
Any easy DIY fix is to measure the skirt against another one with the length you prefer and use fabric scissors to cut the length shorter. Then pull the threads out to create a fringe look.
See an example of my Triarchy denim maxi skirt and how I recently did this – the skirt instantly became easier to wear and didn’t feel as heavy on my body.
